Members Only Film Festival Preview Thursday 4/17 at the Walters Art Museum!

MFF2014FOFpreview_edited-2Maryland Film Festival’s highly-anticipated Members Only Film Festival Preview will take place this Thursday, April 17th at 7:00pm at the beautiful Walters Art Museum!  This is an exclusive event just for current Friends of the Festival and is not open to the public!  Click here to join or renew your Friends of the Festival membership today and get access to this exclusive members-only event!

The annual Members Only Film Festival Preview features highlights from our 2014 film program.  The event is hosted by MFF Director Jed Dietz and our Programming staff, and will be followed by a Q & A with the audience.  This is your chance to get a special taste of what we’re offering at MFF 2014 before the public and get any questions you have answered – you won’t want to miss it!

Last year’s festival preview offered glimpses of Lotfy Nathan‘s 12 O’CLOCK BOYS, Independent Spirit Award-winning film THIS IS MARTIN BONNER, Matt Porterfield‘s I USED TO BE DARKER, Alex Winter‘s DOWNLOADED, ZERO CHARISMA, BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO, LEVIATHAN, MUSEUM HOURS, and many more!  This year’s festival preview will feature glimpses of our 2014 lineup; click here for the first 10 titles we’ve released and stay tuned for more programming updates, coming soon!

Announcing our MFF 2014 Venues!

MFF2014bannerThe MFF 2014 festival campus is now complete!  Our venues for 2014 will include MICA’s Brown Center (1301 W. Mt. Royal Avenue), MICA’s BBOX (1601 W. Mt. Royal Avenue), MICA’s Studio Center  (131 W. North Avenue), The Windup Space (12 W. North Avenue), The Walters Art Museum (600 N. Charles Street), as well as the University of Baltimore’s Langsdale Auditorium (located in Langsdale Library at 1420 Maryland Avenue; auditorium entrance on Oliver Street) and University of Baltimore’s Kaufman Auditorium (located in the Business Center  at 11 W. Mt. Royal Avenue).  Our Tent Village and Festival Headquarters will be located in MICA’s West Lot (between the Studio Center and Joe Squared at 131 W. North Avenue).

Our 2014 festival campus is highly walkable with most venues being no more than a 5-10 minute walking distance apart, with the exception of the Walters Art Museum (which is easily accessible using the free Baltimore Circulator bus, which runs every 10 minutes).  Stay tuned for an interactive map featuring walking routes and directions, coming soon!

We’re excited to be expanding our footprint in the Station North Arts District and encourage patrons to check out our exciting new neighbors, including Red Emma’slocated at 30 W. North Avenue (offering delicious coffee, teas, and vegetarian/vegan fare), Liam Flynn’s Ale House located at 22 W. North Avenue (featuring a full bar and traditional Irish fare), Joe Squared located at 133 W. North Avenue (offering delicious pizza and risotto options along with a full bar), Nancy by SNAC located at 131 W. North Avenue (offering scrumptious sandwiches, coffee, teas and snacks), Two Boots Pizza located at 1203 W. Mt. Royal Avenue (offering creative and tasty pizza along with vegan and gluten-free options), On the Hill Cafe located at 1431 John Street (offering organic and natural food options), and others!

We will also have many delicious food options located within the Tent Village! Participating establishments include Golden West CafeClementine and Sofi’s Crepes, with more food vendors to be announced soon!

We’re thrilled for what promises to be another amazing year for Maryland Film Festival, with top-notch films, award-winning filmmakers, free panels, free outdoor screenings in the Tent Village, and many other exciting events to be announced soon! We look forward to seeing you for the 16th annual Maryland Film Festival, May 7-11!
