Gunky’s Basement returns with John Carpenter‘s modern horror classic IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS (1994), screening from a 35mm print the night before Halloween!
Sam Neill stars in Carpenter’s “thinking person’s horror picture that dares to be as cerebral as it is visceral” (LA Times), the story of an insurance investigator hunting for the truth about a missing horror novelist, his obsessed fans, and bloody real-life events that mirror fiction in disturbing ways. The cast includes Charlton Heston, Julie Carmen, Bernie Casey, and John Glover, with music by Carpenter and cinematography from Gary B. Kibbe (THEY LIVE, PRINCE OF DARKNESS).

Gunky’s Basement is the Maryland Film Festival series curated and hosted by musician Dan Deacon and visual artist Jimmy Joe Roche. All films screen from a 35mm print for just $5, with original screen-printed posters created for each title by a Baltimore artist.
