The 15th annual Maryland Film Festival will take place May 8-12, 2013 in downtown Baltimore.
Our Opening Night will shift to Wednesday night, May 8th; we’ll begin regular programming Thursday evening, with all of our screens kicking into action Friday.
MFF 2012 was a landmark year for us, smashing all previous records for the number of films submitted, as well as for ticket sales and attendance.
This expansion to a fifth night will allow us to showcase more films than we did last year, as well as offer more second and third screenings for some of MFF 2013’s features and short programs.
These growth steps are an organic way for us to respond to our record year in 2012, as well as all the positive feedback we’re getting from filmmakers and audience members.
MFF 2013 programming announcements will begin in early April, and our Friends of the Festival members will get a sneak peak at previews for many of our 2013 films at our Member’s Only Friends of the Festival Preview event April 16th. We are pleased to introduce the official 2013 Maryland Film Festival poster design by Post Typography (in collaboration with photographer RaRah and 3-D illustrator Jeremy Martin).
The design concept surreally interprets Maryland Film Festival’s, ‘Film for Everyone’ motto into a single, iconic illustration that references classic movies, avant-garde film, and M.C. Escher.
A large “head” is created from a spiraling strip of film, whose frames are filled with clips of many faces representing the festival-goers.
To create this intricate design, dozens of Baltimore faces were photographed and then digitally transferred onto a film reel to create a seamless composite.
Look for this design on posters, postcards, yard signs and billboards in the coming weeks, and save the date for the upcoming 15th annual Maryland Film Festival, May 8-12!
