MFF FILMS score big on 2011 best of lists and awards nominations!!

Maryland Film Festival’s 2011 films (and for that matter a few from  ’09 and ’10) are getting a ton of year-end love from top film critics and film websites, in addition to scoring a number of awards nominations and wins!

MEEK’S CUTOFF leads the year-end charge with 29 major TOP TEN LIST appearances. UNCLE BOONMEE… is a close second with 23 appearances. The top 5 are rounded out by THE INTERRUPTERS (16 inclusions), NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT (15 inclusions) and WEEKEND (13 inclusions).

2011 awards season is starting with a bang for MFF films too! So far, here are MFF film award-winners:

BETTER THIS WORLD has picked up a Gotham Award for Best Documentary.

WEEKEND won two British Independent Film Awards (Most Promising Newcomer for star Tom Cullen and Best Achievement in Production.

Three IDA (Int’l Documentary Assoc.) Awards – NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT (Best Doc), THE PRUITT-IGOE MYTH (ABC News Video Source Award) and BETTER THIS WORLD (Best Music)

THE INTERRUPTERS won the Chicago Film Critics’ award for Best Documentary

NOSTALGIA FOR THE LIGHT won the Toronto Film Critics‘ award for Best Documentary

ROBERT LONGSTREET (CATECHISM CATACLYSM, SEPTIEN and THE OREGONIAN) won the Silver Nail Award for acting from the Hammer To Nail blog.

Independent Spirit Awards: 3 Nominations for THE INTERRUPTERS (1), WE WERE HERE (1) and Mark Jackson director of WITHOUT (1)
